Emotional and practical support and reliable information are vital at all stages of your cancer journey. We are here to help.
Emotional and practical support and reliable information are vital at all stages of your cancer journey. We are here to help.
You’re welcome to drop into our friendly centre at any time to find a wide range of informative leaflets. You can find basic information about what to do here if you have worrying symptoms, have recently been diagnosed or want to support someone living with cancer.
But our main mission is to support you in person. If you have a cancer diagnosis and would like to become a Cherry Lodge member, you can access our wide range of services for personalised support and information.
After a cancer diagnosis it can be hard to take everything in, and there may not be the time to ask many questions. That’s where our friendly nursing team comes in.
Book a consultation with a member of the nursing team to receive advice, information and support based on individual needs by submitting our online self-referral form or contacting Karen on 020 8441 7000. At your consultation, other Cherry Lodge services that could benefit you, such as counselling, complementary therapies or befriending may also be suggested.
Our befriending service is designed to tackle the feelings of loneliness that can accompany a cancer diagnosis. Members may benefit from our befriending service because they are too unwell to go out, feel isolated, require support with light practical tasks or simply want companionship and the chance to talk about how they are feeling.
A Cherry Lodge befriender is a trained volunteer who visits members in their own homes, or contacts them by phone, to offer emotional and practical support.
For more information on befriending please email caroline@cherrylodgecancercare.org.uk.
We offer a range of support groups for people living with cancer.
A specialist group for lymphoma and a men’s group for prostate and bladder cancers are held at our centre. These groups meet approximately every six weeks, from 6.00 pm – 8.00 pm.
We also hold a Carers’ Support Group on the second Monday of each month, from 10.30 am – 12.00 pm on Zoom.
For more information on support groups, please email karen@cherrylodgecancercare.org.uk.
The Cornflower Cancer Support Group offers a warm welcome to anyone affected by cancer, including family and friends, and is held at 6.30 pm – 8.00 pm on the second Tuesday of each month at Canon Smyth Hall, Annunciation Church, 4 Thirleby Road, Burnt Oak, HA8 0HQ.
For more information about our outreach services please email karen@cherrylodgecancercare.org.uk.
Our members can access expert advice on benefit entitlements and applications by emailing infomacmillan@barnetcab.org.uk or calling them on 020 8440 4227 (if you attend Barnet or Chase Farm Hospital) or 0808 808 0000. Age UK Barnet holds free drop-in financial advice and support sessions in Chipping Barnet Library on the first and third Tuesdays of the month from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm.
Since having a befriender, I’ve regained my positive mindset. Just having someone to talk to has been incredibly helpful.
