Feelings such as anxiety, fear and isolation are common responses to cancer diagnosis, treatment and symptoms. One-to-one counselling and hypnotherapy sessions from our qualified and accredited professionals can help. Sessions are usually available face-to-face at our centre. Alternatively, they take place on Zoom or on the phone.

This ancient Chinese art of inserting fine needles into the skin aims to relieve pain or symptoms such as stress, nausea, stomach upsets and low energy. Traditional Chinese medicine explains acupuncture as balancing the flow of Qi (energy) through meridians in the body, while Western medicine views it as stimulating nerves and muscles, potentially triggering the release of endorphins, the body’s natural pain relievers. Medical acupuncture at Cherry Lodge is provided by qualified doctors.
If you’re struggling to relax or feel in need of a wellbeing boost, we offer a range of complementary therapies from qualified
therapists that can help. The sessions take place in the therapy rooms at our centre and include the following:
Our qualified therapist will give you a body massage, or head and neck massage to promote symptomatic relief, relaxation and feelings of wellbeing.
Reflexology involves the therapist using their fingers or thumbs to apply pressure to specific points, believed to
correspond to different organs and systems in the body, usually on the feet or hands. The goal is to promote relaxation, improve circulation, and encourage the body’s natural healing processes.
Reiki is a Japanese technique that promotes relaxation, reduces stress, and supports the body’s natural healing processes. It involves the practitioner using gentle hand movements on or near your fully clothed body to channel “life force energy” and help restore balance and harmony. Reiki
can potentially lead to improved mood, pain reduction, and a greater sense of well-being.
A type of acupuncture in which specific points on the ear are stimulated by the insertion of fine needles to affect different organs and body systems. Sessions reduce stress and anxiety and promote relaxation. Six-week-long group courses at Cherry Lodge are delivered by a licensed NHS professional.
